Convincing yourself you’re going to fail, so why bother? This is the stuff slackers are made of
Watching daytime television
Being ineffective in the NOW because you’re either living in the past or fantasising about the future
Getting up too late
Comparing yourself to others and falling short
Failing to set goals
Believing consciously or unconsciously that you don’t deserve to succeed
Thinking you can motivate others with a carrot or a stick. Better to convince them it’s in their best interest.
MOTIVATION BOOSTERS:
Motivating yourself with a carrot. Rewards work
Accepting that RESISTENCE – in the shape of negativity, indecisiveness or fear – is hovering around whenever it sees the possibility of forward movement in your life
Making lists
Repeating out loud your goals and targets at least twice a day (in private, of course)
Hiring a life coach – short-term. You don’t want to get hooked
Acknowledging that you like yourself much more when you’re proactive
Embracing clichés such as: feel the fear and do it anyway/no pain no gain/what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger etc. The trouble is they’re right
