To actually follow through on the 'tough love' approach, requires a steeliness most parents are incapable of.
I believe that that there are a variety of approaches to be considered when dealing with a teenager who has developed a drug or alcohol problem, and banishing them from home strikes me as a last resort.
However, William Bell claims tough love helped him get off skunk and turn his life around. He is now grateful to his parents for following this hard line approach.
